Join us in the wet waters of Lundy in Summer 2021 to dive the wonders of the Marine Conservation Zone where playful Seals swim & rest, fish are abundant and corals are colorful! The Island itself has some beautiful scenery and is home to an array of wildlife including Deer, Goats, Sheep, Cattle, Rabbits, Pigs, Ponies, Puffins, Guillemots, Kittiwakes and Razorbills as well as much more!
This year we will bring you 5 fun-filled dives and a stay on the famous Landmark Trust Island that’s located at the mouth of the Bristol Channel. This is where the cool, clear, oceanic waters from the Gulf Stream mix with the clear, but warmer waters from the Mediterranean. There are over 40 dive sites around the island with a mix of wrecks, reefs, drop-offs, and pinnacles. You can also dive with the seals which are extremely friendly. Most sites have already been pre-arranged with the skipper (as below), but these are subject to change under the usual mother nature's decision or an adult conversation between all divers ;)
The itinerary includes:
Wednesday 30th June - Friday 2th July(AM). A chance for you to come to the dive shop to get your cylinders filled and put your dive gear in the van. Please make sure you have all dive gear in the van by midday on Friday.
Friday night stay at The New Inn in the picturesque village of Clovelly. This will be in appropriately paired rooms with a shared bathroom. Guests can check-in from 2pm. We will arrange a dinner - the local fish & chip shop has been highly recommended, so we reckon fish & chips on the Beach watching the sunset listening to the crashing waves of the sea! :)
Saturday will see us wake up approx 7am. The van (already packed with the dive gear) will drive down to the harbour where we will meet the skipper and unload the van. You’ll need to leave your cars in the top car park and walk down (free parking). Depart by 8:30am. Drop off camping gear at the dive shed on the Island. 1st dive will hopefully be one of the wrecks dependent on tide times, with a possible 2nd wreck dive. For our third and last dive of the day we will go to one of the Seals hang outs (there are several locations around the Island that they are located) and jump in for a dive. Once the diving is over we will be dropped off on the Island where we will set up our tents for the night. You can then enjoy the evening as you like - we will go to The Tavern for dinner (this is the only place to eat, BBQs are not possible as there is limited room on the boat to bring BBQ equipment and food).
Sunday we will wake up and de-camp. The skipper will collect us at an agreed time. We will then go for another Seal dive and then dive on hopefully The Knoll Pinnacles North of The Island, if this isn’t possible we can look at other sites. Once we have completed our 2nd dive we will make our way back to the mainland.
The Island only fill cylinders with AIR. We recommend taking a cylinder (or both) with enriched air for the first 2 wreck dives (especially if tides allow us to dive on The Robert). The cylinder fills are not included in the trip cost and are payable on the day to the warden.
Food & drink is not included in the cost of this trip. A Breakfast box or packed lunch will be provided from The New Inn on Saturday morning and hot drinks are provided on the dive boat throughout the day. We will be taking a couple of bags of snacks for the weekend to share out.
This trip does not include transport to and from Clovelly - we suggest you car share, this can be arranged closer to the time.
All accommodation, including the camping is sorted. You won't need to bring a tent - again, the compartments will be fairly shared. Just bring a pillow, sleeping bag and something to sleep on!
For ease of access to the boat on Saturday please drop off your dive gear up to 2 days before the trip commences at the dive shop to go in the van.
